The new school opened in September 2009 to reflect the needs of education in the 21st century. Over the last five years the school has made huge strides in embedding information and communication technologies into the fabric of teaching and learning. The school has been designated a specialist school for ICT A recent foreign visitor to the school commented that he had seen the future of education at Ashfield. We are very proud of the students who continue to achieve far more than they ever imagined and we look forward to further development as a learning organisation and specialist school enabling us to promote lifelong learning for the community we serve.
At Ashfield, we believe in the liberating power of technology for learners and will continue to develop our ICT facilities to meet the demands of the 21st century.
What our parents say
Ashfield is all about the girls - the school always puts its girls first.
~ Lisa (Mother of Year 14 pupil)
My two daughters enjoy Ashfield and have grown in confidence. I would go back to Ashfield myself if I could!
~ Isobel (Mother of Year 10 and Year 13 pupils)
My daughter is in Year 14 and has loved Ashfield from the first day. She has many friends and enjoys taking part in Rock Challenge.
~ Wendy (Mother of Year 14 pupil)
This is my daughter’s first year at Ashfield and we are delighted with how she has settled into the school.
It can be quite daunting moving from primary to secondary, but we feel that Ashfield is excellent at helping the girls adapt. When we came to the open night last year my daughter was very impressed with the facilities the school had to offer; and whether you are academically minded or not, there is something for everyone. I remember the Principal at the open night saying that all the girls at Ashfield are special, as a parent we all think our children are special, but I have to say that Ashfield really does go the extra mile to ensure that their girls are special and we are delighted that my daughter is a part of this.
~ Julie (Parent of Year 8 pupil)
Ashfield is a school where the children’s needs are always to the forefront. Every child is special and they know this from the day they come. It is a truly wonderful school.
~ Mandy (Mother of Year 14 pupil)
Our eldest daughter has now left Ashfield and my youngest daughter is in Year 11. We cannot start to explain how friendly, supportive and caring we have found the school community. The pastoral support is amazing; and all the girls are made to feel secure and valued and encouraged to build positive relationships with both fellow pupils and staff. The teachers and principal are truly committed to ensuring the girls achieve their full academic potential and are prepared to go out of their way to enable this. We would not hesitate in recommending Ashfield Girls High School to any parent.
~ Jane & Michael (Parents of Year 11 pupil)
My daughter is now in Year 13, having attained excellent GCSE results in nine subjects. She is now studying for four AS levels. From her first day at Ashfield Girls’, her experience has been only positive, due to the teaching approach, pastoral support, and encouragement she receives on a daily basis.
~ Yvonne (Mother of Year 13 pupil)
‘The opportunities at Ashfield ensure that our daughter can reach her full potential through dedicated staff and state of the art facilities. Rock Challenge was our highlight of the school year.’
